Rhododendron Bloom Report: July 16, 2021

Hi folks-

As can be seen in the photos from today, this week is about as good as it is going to get this year. We are right at “peak” bloom here at Rhododendron State Park in Fitzwilliam, NH.

A common sight this week
Another typical view

In spite of the hot weather and dry conditions in the region, Nature has once again delivered a good show this year for all to see.

Do not fret if you are unable to arrive this weekend – there will be plenty of flowers to see all next week.
That being said, the sooner you get there, the better the show will be.

The beginning of the end

And if you arrive on the weekend, park very carefully. The parking is limited and the road is narrow.

A latecomer-normal

Until next week,

  1. Is there ever a chance to get some of these seedlings or buy a potted version of this natural rhododendron? I have an acre of woods in Manchester with a path winding through it and would love love love some of these out there.

  2. Are the rhododendrons ever available for sale? Has NH ever thought of potting some up for a fund raising or such? Since they are a NH breed, I would love to propagate them in my woods behind my home and maybe make a mini rhody walk.
