Summer Internship Explores Park System

This summer, an internship is being offered for one lucky student to explore the New Hampshire Park System, take pictures and share the experience on our blog!

University of Chicago student, Sophia Hartley, has been selected to undertake this mission and her work is already underway. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Phycology, while minoring in Environmental Studies and Creative Writing. Originally from Thetford, Vermont, Sophie developed a strong connection to New Hampshire while camping and hiking here with her family throughout childhood. Now as a college senior, she is excited to return to NH and use her photography skills to connect people with the outdoors and inspire them to visit parks they may not have been to.

Sophie plans to highlight both day-use and camping experiences in every region of the state with an emphasis on hiking and kayaking. Her blog posts will be published twice a week from June through August, 2021. This week’s itinerary included places like Winslow, Wadleigh, Pillsbury, Mt Sunapee and Cardigan Mountain State Parks in the Dartmouth/Sunapee Region and next week she is planning to camp for several nights in the Great North Woods. Look for her first blog posts to be rolling out next week.
